Merry Christmas slip covers

What a beautiful day I shared with my family.  We successfully opened all our presents and I think I gained the required 10 lbs. for the season.  Now my family is all nestled down and I wanted to get a post up before I forget.  I am taking off work until January 7th.  My next available opening is the end of February; so give me a call to reserve a spot on my list.

First off I wanted to wish Kimber a Merry Christmas.  Her parents surprised her with a slip covered chair.  I hope you loved your surprise.

AFTER- Isn't she cute!!

Here is a shot of my recent drop cloth project.  No before pics, but  the after sure looks adorable.  Notice the ruffled ottoman.  Love it!

So comfy and inviting.

Every year we have a gift exchange with the family and I try to make something home made.  This year I made owl pillows.  My nieces and nephew loved them.

Have a safe holiday and a happy new year.  See you in 2013!!

Couch slipcovers

I would like to start off by wishing everyone out in blog land a very Happy Thanksgiving.  Every year I worry about if I'm going to eat to much; this year I would just like to focus on the blessing of my family.  I am grateful that they put up with me and I am grateful that they support me through all my different phases of life.

On to my slipcovers.  I did not get a BEFORE of this picture.  My client's couch was a dark green with pillow back cushions.  We redesigned her back cushions and boxed them.  We gave her couch a lovely white slip cover made from a natural twill.  I have to say that this fabric may be my new favorite.  It is fairly thick and is very soft to the touch.  You can find it at your local Walmart.

My next client had a matching couch and loveseat that were out of date and tired.  They were very deep and comfy couches that she wanted to update.  She chose to cover them in drop cloth.  We decided to box her back cushions to help update the furniture.

I had a lot of fun with this next couch.  My client chose to use drop cloth, but she "oxi-cleaned" it to make it a bright white.  Her drop cloth ended up being a little thin, so we had to line it so the plaid would not show through.  The client chose a 6" boxed skirt.  It turned out so cute.

It has been a hectic and busy November.  I look forward to spending time with my family this week and relaxing just a bit.  I have two more projects and then I am taking December off to enjoy the holiday season.

Cabin Slipcover

My client had a couch that they wanted to recover for their cabin.

I think the denim is a durable and fashionable choice for cabin life.

Slipcovers, cushions, upholstery....oh my

I've had a busy month.  Not only doing projects, but I am in the process of moving.  So let's get this picture show started.

I will start with my cushion job.  I am missing some pillow forms for the bolster pillows and one back cushion.  My client and I came up with a fabric combination.  I think it came out quite nicely. These cushions will be sitting on an antique wicker sofa.  Hopefully the client will shoot some photos my way.

pretty in green and brown.

I've had a chair sitting in my shop for about 2 months.  It was one of those jobs that I had a lot of time to work on because the client didn't need it right away.  She has been out of state and just wanted it done before she arrived home.

BEFORE- This chair is much larger than it looks and very heavy.  Gorgeous, masculine wingback

AFTER- with coordinating pillow

I get to drop this chair off next week.  I didn't mention that it has a twin.  Two matching chairs with two matching slip covers and pillows.

Now to my funny upholstery job.  I like to upholster on occasion,  just for fun.  It is an expressive release for me and it helps me hone my craft.  I like to experiment and reinvent pieces of furniture.  So tell me what you think of my latest creation.

BEFORE-curvy couch with "fake leather" and bun feet.

I saw potential.  People think I am crazy and I tend to agree with them.

Here is the AFTER

I gave her some new legs and a cute slipcover.  She went from short to table height.

Distressed legs with hot pink and grey

I actually took off the "fake leather" and reupholstered with a sturdy, yet ugly, peach velvet.  Then I gave her an adorable slip cover.

She will be my girl's reading couch in our new home.

What a trooper!  She posed for me straight from her bed

Summer of Slip covers

My newest client doesn't even know her chair is done yet, but I wanted to post it as quick as I could.  I think it turned out so cute.  This chair was great to start with; it just needed to match the current decor.

Striped with just the slip covered cushion.  I think it works, don't you?

AFTER- Isn't she pretty

A close up of the detail

Here is a previous project that I never posted.  I am realizing that I need to buy a camera.  I am not blogging as much as I would like because I don't like my furniture shots.  I will have to make it a bigger priority.

Just an AFTER

My son is turning 12 tomorrow.  I just wanted to shout to the world how proud I am of him!!

He picked out the pink Tie!!  He's cooler than I am.

Happy Thursday People!!!

Drop cloth Couch

This is the season of white.
My client wanted to lighten up the feel of her front room with a drop cloth slip cover.  She also wanted her back cushions to be a little "perkier".

Now the room is light and refreshed for summer enjoyment

AFTER- drop cloth slip cover with goose down envelopes added to the back cushions

Happy Tuesday People!!

Drop Cloth Sectional Slipcover

I love new clients.  I had a great time helping out Trina keep her sectional "kid proof".  Her sectional started out white, but she wanted to keep it staying white.  She went with a drop cloth slip cover.  She was happy, and therefore,  I was very happy.

Slipcover 360 Degrees

I love how a slip cover can transform furniture.  It can update it and make it new again;  It can add excitement to a room  and  IT CAN BE WASHED!!

I love a good slip!

AFTER -added batting to liven up the cushions

Here's another

BEFORE- So cute, but had a very busy pattern.

After- refreshed and neutral, waiting for accents.
